How old is kyo from fruits basket
The main protagonist of the series is Tohru Honda, a teenage high school girl with an unbelievable work ethic and unfathomable kindness in her heart. She lost her mom before the start of the anime and ends up living in a tent to avoid burdening her family or friends. She is the most important person to ever enter the lives of the Sohma family, creating unique and powerful relationships with each of them over her time living with Shigure, Kyo, and Yuki.
She is incredibly strong and impactful, even at such a young age! The first of the Sohma family that Tohru met from being in the same high school, Yuki plays a crucial role in how the events of the anime play out. He was born the year of the Rat, making him kind, gentle, mature, and charming, even though he bears incredible guilt, rage, and sadness underneath his princely exterior.
Yuki, along with most of his family, dealt with emotional abuse throughout his childhood and masks the pain through his friendly and inviting demeanor. He is the perfect match to the generous and kind Tohru, on a deep and emotional level.
The total opposite of his cousin and roommate Yuki, Kyo is loud and brash and loves to start fights. He takes on the role of the Cat in the Zodiac, making him extra feisty and standoffish. It takes some time for him to grow close to others, but when he does, he becomes incredibly loyal and protective. Kyo fights a lot of demons, but he is constantly trying to better himself to make Tohru and his family happy.
Shigure is the comical, pervy older cousin who lives with the main protagonist trio. He takes on the role of the caretaker in the home, earning money as a novelist. Shigure loves being childish and wacky, and he never turns down an opportunity to tease or annoy his younger cousins. He, Ayame, and Hatori are three peas in a pod, all relying on one another to keep their highly dysfunctional family running smoothly.
One of Tohru's best friends, Arisa, or Uo, is a rough and tough girl with a past filled with crime and mischief. Uo was finally set straight by Kyoko Honda, Tohru's mother, who lived a similar life to the young blonde. She is intimidating and has no shame telling people how she really feels. She is very protective and caring towards Tohru and Hana, wanting only the best for her two closest friends.
This is because the cat rejected the want to be reincarnated, unlike the other zodiac members. Kyo has the most tragic family story out of the zodiac. He was initially living with his parents, with his mother scared of his true form.
Eventually, she ended up killing herself, and his dad disowned him shortly after. This led Kazuma to take in Kyo as he had been cruel to the previous cat. Kyo looks up to Kazuma and throws himself into his karate studies.
He is extremely disciplined and talented when it comes to martial arts. This leads him to want to open his own dojo and ends up moving to the country with Tohru after the series concludes. It is not yet known whether or not he achieved this fact, but hopefully, we will soon see the happy could in the sequel manga featuring their children.
Similar to his rival Yuki, Kyo is not a fan of fashion. Kyo believes that clothes should be versatile enough to be fought in and does not like to use accessories. He is never really seen in fancy clothing or any outfits that stand out, this is likely also linked to the fact he prefers to climb up to high spaces.
The bracelet Kyo wears helps to seal away his true form but has a terrifying past. The bracelet is made out of the bones and blood of a monk. Kyo reveals its origin and the fact that he is completely disgusted by the bracelet to Tohru. This is the darkest item in the series history and honestly fans wish it would have more backstory.
While this is shown more in the original anime, it still stands true. He constantly trains in martial arts so that he might one day defeat his rival, Yuki. His martial arts master, Kazuma is one of the people he respects the most. Arisa Uotani once calls him "anger management boy," and Yuki Sohma expresses envy of his ability to make friends easily. He is also fiercely competitive, and can be easily manipulated into doing things he does not want to by turning it into a competition—especially against Yuki.
As the cat, Kyo hates Yuki, the current Rat of the zodiac, whom he sees as never having to work hard at anything, and has dedicated his life to defeating him. Shortly before the series beginning, Kyo made a bet with Akito: if he defeats Yuki in a fight before graduating high school, he would officially be accepted as part of the zodiac; however, if he does not, Kyo would be confined inside the Sohma estate for the rest of his life.
Despite many months of strict training, however, Kyo never lands a decent blow on Yuki. Their rivalry distresses Tohru, who likes them both, but she comes to worry even more when they do not fight. The two eventually tell each other, during an argument, they envy as well as despise each other and come to a truce for Tohru's sake. At the start of the story, Kyo moves into Shigure's house with Yuki and Tohru. When Kyo was young, his mother died in an accident rumored to be suicide over her son's curse, and after his father rejected him, Kyo was taken in by Kazuma Sohma.
The two love each other as father and son, but Kazuma insists he continue to live with Shigure because he believes Tohru is helping him open up. Aside from his foster father, however, Kyo pushes away the people who want to help him, because he is ashamed of the cat's true form—a grotesque, foul-smelling, monster—which he turns into when his bone juzu bead bracelet is removed.
When Tohru sees his true form, however, she follows him to beg him to stay with her, which strengthens their bond. However, Kyo also blames himself for the death of Tohru's mother, whom he could have saved at the risk of turning into a cat, and he was shaken by Kyoko's last words, "I'll never forgive you In the last chapter, he and Tohru move out of Shigure's house and prepare to go to another city, where he will study at another dojo in preparation for inheriting Kazuma's, and in the final pages it is shown that they had 3 children and a granddaughter.
